Keeping with the low ABV Summertime brews, here’s our seasonally brewed Gose with direct from the farm New Jersey blueberries and blueberry honey from our friends at Fruitwood Orchards and Diamond Blueberry Farms.
Making this beer is always an adventure. Take into consideration the seasonal nature of the New Jersey blueberry harvest, and the kettle souring technique used to make it, and you’ve got a bit of logistical nightmare for a production brewery that’s brewing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our Blueberry Gose is a riff on the Leipziger-style ale that’s traditionally brewed with salt and coriander, but with the added local focus on New Jersey blueberry honey added to the boil, and fermentation on direct from the farm freshly picked blueberries, 750 pounds in total.
The result is a complex and crushable Summertime treat that’s both sweet, and slightly salty, bright, tart, and with an almost blueberry Champagne quality. The farm fresh blueberries lend a farmhouse quality as well that’s constantly evolving in the cans and kegs as well.
Oh, did we say cans?
Yes we did.
This is the first time we’ve canned this beer, with a very limited number of 16 ounce four packs available AT THE BREWERY ONLY. No case sales, limit three 4-packs per customer, $12/each.
Limited amounts of draft will be hitting select accounts throughout our distribution footprint in the coming days as well, just in time to get us through the dog days of Summer.
