Craft Beer Spotlight: Oddity Bar
Raising spirits in Wilmington, Delaware since 2013, Oddity Bar is the area’s most uniquely entertaining spot to escape from the ordinary. With a large selection of over 100 beers, a full bar, which includes a variety of absinthe, and a small but satisfying food menu with vegan and gluten-free options, there’s something for everyone. Neshaminy Creek’s Croydon Cream Ale is a staple draft, and Oddity Bar features Highwater Hefeweizen, J.A.W.N. and Countyline IPA in cans.
Curiosities abound amid unusual art on the walls, campy taxidermy, and table tops featuring images of UFOs, astrological charts, palmistry, and the iconic Ouija board, all while keeping a friendly and fun environment for customers. Retro classics and B-movies, along with independent and art house films, play on the televisions rounding out the offbeat vibe.
There’s live entertainment at Oddity Bar throughout the week. On Tuesdays, it’s a night of Cards Against Humanity, and Wednesdays are hot at Oddball Bingo, the wildest game in town where it’s free to play and win sexy adult prizes. Kid Davis and The Bullets are the resident rockabilly band on Thursdays, while weekends feature a varying lineup of local and touring acts. The third Friday of the month is reserved for Oddball Art Hall, a free art event which showcases local artists and live figure models, as guest DJs spin vinyl providing the soundtrack for the evening.
Oddity’s Night of Divas drag show takes place on the last Sunday of every month. You may recognize the drag show’s hostess, Veronica Kitten, and a few Oddity bartenders from the recently released Kesha video for her song, Woman, which was filmed on location at Oddity Bar this past June-the day before her performance at Firefly Music Festival. The video has over 12 million views and counting. Needless to say, Oddity Bar is enjoying the wild ride!
