Beer Releases and Availability

Beeer Shot

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

So, you wanna check out that Shape of Hops to Come Imperial IPA all your friends are talking about?  Tough luck, it’s gone….until July 2015.  Seriously, it’s gone.  We have none at the brewery, so no you can’t buy a sixtel, and you’re, as they say, ‘shit out of luck’, all 4-packs are gone.

Next up is our English-style Double IPA, Blitzkrieg Hops.  2015’s batches are much different than what we got out of the kettle back in May of this year.  Essentially, it’s an English IPA brewed like a West Coast American IPA, and we feel like we’ve finally hit our target this go round.  It’s brewed with all English malts like Maris Otter, and hops like Admiral, Phoenix, Pilgrim, and Target, and is bitter, dank, and has a ton of citrus, apricot, and peach-like qualities in the flavor and nose.  Draft will be available just after the New Year and we’re hoping 16 oz. cans will be available in mid-January.

J.A.W.N., our American Pale Ale, is now available in SEPA and NJ in draft and cans will be hitting distributors next week.  Along with that we’ve also shipped our Winter Oatmeal Sweet Stout, Mudbank Milk Stout and is now available at the brewery on draft, growler fills, and 22 oz. bottles.  All of our distributors should have them by the end of the first week of January as well.

Coming out of our barrels in the months ahead include Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel Aged Leon Russian Imperial Stout, In the Midnight Sour, our Belgian Dubbel soured in Chambourcin red wine barrels with raspberries and cocao nibs, Rum Barrel Aged Nesaminator, and our yet unnamed French Biere De Garde soured in Pinot Noir barrels on Brett Brux and blackberries.

2015 is going to be a fun year.

On a final note, many of you have been calling asking about the future availability of Shape of Hops to Come and if we’re ever going to make this a full-time beer.  Until further notice, SHC will only be available July through December each calendar year.  Why?  Hop contracts, that’s why.  While we certainly thought SHC could be a Double IPA people would enjoy, contractually we were only able to get enough hops allocated to us for 2015 and 2016 to allow us to make this beer available six months out of the year.  The earliest we could make SHC a year round beer would be 2017.  Do we even want to do that?  Who knows.  As brewers we really enjoy making many different types and kinds of beer, and we strive to make them consistantly well each time, if not better than the last.  I can think of a least a dozen other beers and ideas for beers we’ve got ‘on deck’ that could be just a good as SHC.  Who knows?

With the growth of the brewery we’ve also shrunk…..confused?  Don’t be.  Over the past few months in conjunction with our new Tap and Gameroom we’ve been working on beefing up our 20 gallon pilot system to a 1.5 BBL brewhouse, and acquring some 3 BBL jacketed, temperature controlled fermenters and brite tanks.  This will enable us to brew and offer more beers in our Taproom and for our Bottle Reserve Club members than we previously couldn’t with our larger brewhouse.  In short, in the coming months there are going to be a lot of new beers available in the Taproom only, so if you haven’t come and visited the new Taproom yet, you might want to change that.

Well, that about covers things for now.  I’m sure I’m missing a bunch, but with so much going on it’s hard to remember everything.  You’ll just have to pay a bit more attention if you wanna keep up.
