Philly Beer Week New Beer Release Post #3: The last of our PBW2014 new beer announcements, this one covers our 2nd Anniversary beer, which is a spin on our 1st Anniverary beer, Concrete Pillow. This year we’ve decided to ferment Concrete Pillow with an English ale yeast, but hop it with American hops like Warrior and Centennial and again comes in over 10% ABV. 2014 Concrete Pillow will only be available on draft Sunday, June 1st at The Churchville Inn at our Beer Week Brunch and Saturday, June 7th at our 2nd Anniversary bash. A limited bottling of 600 will be available at our Anniversary event, and we’ve reserved a special spot in some more barrels for another year long slumber as well. T-minus one day until the start of Beer Week, and we’ve got one more announcement to go tomorrow that should kick things off right. Are you ready?
We’re stoked to be releasing our first sour beer during PBW2014. You may have noticed our collection of wine and bourbon barrels growing over the past 24 months here at the brewery. Eight of those barrels are Port wine barrels from Buckingham Valley Vineyards. 16 months ago we let our Tribute Tripel slumber in these barrels on a cocktail of wild yeast and bacteria from one of our favorite yeast houses. Beast Infection Sour Ale is the end result. It’ll only be available at The Churchville Inn on Sunday, June 1st, Varga Bar on Tuesday, June 3rd, and Bainbridge Street Barrel House on Friday, June 6th, as well as our 2nd Anniversary Party Saturday, June 7th. This will be the only draft available of this beer until the next round of barrels we’ve soured this beer in become available in 2015. A very limited brewery only bottle release will follow in late-June. Get awesome.
The Neshaminy Creek Brewing team is growing. Maybe you’re our next team member? We’re please to announce the following job opportunities:
Full-Time Sales Position (2 Openings)
Neshaminy Creek Brewing is now hiring full-time Sales Representative positions for the following areas:
- Philadelphia and surrounding area
- New Jersey focusing specifically on South Jersey
Candidates should have a passion for everything craft beer, from brewing, to sales, to education. Prior beer or malt beverage sales experience a plus, but not a requirement. Marketing or Business college degrees also a plus, but not required. Candidates must have reliable transportation, a thorough understanding of beer styles, working knowledge of the brewing process, and the energy to keep pace with The Animal both inside and outside the brewery.
Qualified and interested candidates should forward a cover letter and resume in PDF format to neshaminycreekbrewing[at]yahoo.com. Cover letters and resumes in any other format will not be accepted. All applicants must apply by Monday, April 28th, and will be contacted directly for an interview if considered.
Do you stay up late at night thinking about malted barley, Calcium sulfate, and Humulus lupulus? Do the words attenuation and sanitization get your adrenaline pumping? Have you ever broken into a cold sweet just thinking about double pre-evac bottling lines?
Having opened in June of 2012, Neshaminy Creek Brewing is one of the Philadelphia area’s newest and fastest growing production breweries. In less than two years since opening we have reached nearly 3600 barrels of total production operating on a 15 barrel direct fire JV Northwest brew house, we currently have 420 barrels of fermentation and lagering capacity, and look to add addition fermentation and lagering capacity in the coming months as well as an automated canning line to help meet the growing demand for our draft and packaged offerings.
We’re currently accepting resumes and interviewing to fill an full-time Brewers position starting June 1st. Ideal candidates should have a broad range of brewing experience, including but not limited to any of the following: homebrewing, brew school certification from Siebel, UC Davis, or the American Craft Brewers Guild, four year college degree program with a focus on beer or commerical beverage production, a college degree in General Science, Biology, or Chemistry, BJCP judge certification, or previous brewery work experience.
Canidates must be able to commit 40 hours a week (Monday through Friday), and occasional weekends to working both inside and outside the brewery. You must be self-motivated, determined, hardworking, and think quickly on your feet. Brewery work is back breaking, long hour days, rarely spent staring at a glass of beer judging it for it’s qualities and waxing poetic about the times. This is hard, demanding work, but also very rewarding.
We have a desire to hire and promote from within, and have done so and aim to continue growing our team of dedicated, hardworking brewers over the coming months.
Beer geeks and snobs need not apply.
If you think you’ve got what it takes wrestle 558 gallons of wort, please forward a cover letter and resume in PDF format to neshaminycreekbrewing[at]yahoo.com. Cover letters and resumes in any other format will not be accepted. All applicants must apply by Monday, May 5th and will be contacted directly for an interview if considered.
Some of you have heard us mention this in the past, but one of the events we’re going to hold monthly at the brewery is a movie night each and every second Friday of the month. We’ve been working on getting the place ready so we can finally start this new “tradition”, so here we go….
Friday, August 10th - Neshaminy Creek Second Friday Movie Night!
This month’s featured movie is the 1983 cult classic The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew
Entry 10$ – All proceeds go to a select charity each month!
All of our Second Friday Movie Nights are charity events and each month we’ll be donating all the proceeds to a different charity. This month we’re going to be donating 100% of the proceeds to Pints for Prostates. You can check out more information about PFP at http://www.pintsforprostates.org.
Entry is $10 and you get a free bag of popcorn and a beer of your choice with each ticket. If you’d like to sample more beer during the movie you can do so by contributing a suggested donation of $3 per sample. Again, all proceeds are going towards each month’s selected charity. While we can’t force you to donate, please be understanding and generous in this cause.
We’ll be showing each month’s movie in the brewery on one of our freshly painted walls. Please bring a lawn chair, comfortable blanket, bean bag chair, or anything you don’t mind getting a little dirty because this is an active brewery. While we do our best to keep the place clean, it’s nearly impossible to get everything that clean.
Our gift shop will be open during each Movie Night and you can purchase growlers of any beer we have on tap to take home if you’d like as well.
We hope to see you on Friday! Please help us spread the word!
