Bourbon Barrel Aged Concrete Pillow Bottle Release

BBA Concrete Pillow

For our First Anniversary in 2013 we brewed a hefty American-styled Barleywine we dubbed Concrete Pillow. We only made 600 bottles available, and the rest of the brew went towards a very limited amount of draft as well as a 12 month slumber in some Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels that had recently been emptied of our Russian Imperial Stout, Leon. Here we are another 12 plus months and we’re ready to let this monster run wild ounce, and only once!

Exhibiting notes of Bourbon, vanilla, maple syrup, deep, earthy oak, and chewy, bready toasted malts, Bourbon Barrel Aged Concrete Pillow will be available for the FIRST AND ONLY TIME EVER at the brewery Saturday, June 21st at 12 Noon to the general public. We again limited the number of bottles to 600, so once they’re gone, they’re gone! We have absolutely no plans to ever age this beer in Bourbon barrels again. You have been warned. Once this train leaves the station it isn’t coming back!

Bottles are $20/each, limit two per person.

This will sell out quickly, so make plans accordingly.

Our musical guests this year are:

The Slackers are a classic American band that is equal parts grit and grace. Their slow rise against the odds is a story of perseverance and a belief in their musical vision, what Vic likes to call, “Jamaican Rock N Roll.” While they have been influenced, and even personally taught by Jamaican Ska/Reggae originators, like the Skatalites and the Upsetters (Original backing band for the Wailers), the band sees its music as an extension of the traditions of the United States. This band is equally appreciative of old Blues, Country, 60s Soul, Rock, and Rn’B as it is of Reggae, Rocksteady, Dub, and Ska. It is as if the Rolling Stones or the Yardbirds had grown up on Bob Marley as well as Muddy Waters.

The Snails are an eclectic act specializing in various forms of Jamaican music, blended with ragged 50′s rock ‘n’ roll and the sweet sounds of American soul. The band is fronted by Todd Fausnacht on lead guitar, complemented by Tim Hildebrand on rhythm guitar. The driving beats spring from the rhythm section comprised of Josh Parry on drums, Ben Parry on bass, and Kyle Williams on organ. Though Fausnacht’s vocals lead the group, it is not uncommon for the voices of all five members to come together in cascading harmony.

The dramatic vocals, ‘wall of noise’ guitars, and energetic percussion of Metroplex lend a truly original and emotive sound to this sought after Philly based band. Guitarist Matt Hanemann and Vocalist/Bassist Jack Kerrigan have been working together in several different bands for for the better part of the last decade, including time in the Philly based pop-punk band Khrissy. In early 2001, this talented duo teamed up with long-time friend and explosive drummer, Fred Bohlander, himself a vetern as well on the Philadelphia music scene.
Looking to such bands as The Police, Jawbreaker, The Pixies, Fugazi and Leatherface, this trio has created an intoxicating sound of their own; powerful melodies, unique hooks, and lush interludes that come together and create a truly unique sound.

Invite your friends to this. The event is FREE and All Ages/21+ to drink.

Imperial Chocolate Mudbank Milk Stout Release

Imperial Chocolate Mudbank Milk Stout is the first of our two Mudbank Milk Stout variants! Brewed with copious amounts of Chocolate malt and 28 pounds of semi-sweet Belgian Chocolate added to the boil, Imperial Chocolate Mudbank Milk Stout is a tuned up version of our Winter seasonal with all the chocolate bang for your buck. This jet black brew is chock full of bready two-row barley, biscuity Victory, and enough Caramel malt, and Flaked Oats for a bold, rich, big mouthfeel and taste. Hopped with Warrior and Fuggles and coming in at 9.1% ABV this hefty brew is sure to keep you warm on a cold Winter’s night as well. Too bad Winter is only four months long! This limited brew is only available once a year, so be sure to keep a few bottles in the basement, as this beer will age and grow in character with time.

Bottle sales and growler sales start at 12 noon on Saturday, February 1st! 22 ounce bottels are $12/each and growler fills are $20/each. We only have 2 half barrel kegs for growler fills, so this beer won’t stick around for long!

1st Anniversary Bash – June 9th!

1st Anniversary Poster

Alright, as long as we make it to June 1st alive, we would have made it through our first year unscathed! To celebrate, we’re going to throw a huge party at the brewery with beer (of course), music, food, and a whole lot of fun. We’ve also teamed up with our new neighbors from Johnny Mac’s Chopper House to help them celebrate their Grand Opening too. Can we get a HELL YEAH!?!

Here’s the crucial info you need…

Sunday, June 9th
Neshaminy Creek Brewing
12 pm to 7 pm
Free to the public and All Ages
Enjoy beer by the pint and pay as you go!

Now, here are the beers we’re going to have on tap:

Leon Russian Imperial Stout – Only 1 keg on tap
Mudbank Milk Stout – Only 1 keg on tap
Tribute Tripel
Trauger Pilsner
County Line IPA
Croydon Cream Ale
Highwater Hefeweizen
Churchville Lager

We’ve also put together an awesome lineup of bands for your listening pleasure as well. Music starts at 2PM:

The Pietasters – Legendary Washington DC ska and soul!
All Eyes West – Chicago power-rock trio
Ma Jolie – Philly post-punk awesomeness!
Kill Lincoln – High energy punk and ska

To help keep you fed we’ve asked the fine folks from Taco Mondo and Say Cheese food trucks to park their fine wagons on Ray Avenue for some great food all day. Not to be outdone, we’ve lined up some tasty treats from the Bent Spoon who will be providing us with How ‘Bout S’more Leon, their handmade offering of chocolate s’mores ice cream made from our Leon Russian Imperial Stout. They may even have another flavor or two as well!

You may have noticed a new beer listed on our tap list for this event. That beer is Concrete Pillow and is a 10.8% American Barleywine that we’ll have available to help us celebrate this event! We’re only brewing 36 barrels of this beer, and half are going to be aged in once used bourbon barrels for an entire year while the rest will be available in 22 oz. bottles and draft only. This will be a brewery only bottle release and there will only be 600 bottles of Concrete Pillow made available to the public. None will ever be made available via retail distribution, so if you want a bottle, you have to come to the brewery and get one. The remaining amount will be kegged and distributed throughout our current distribution areas in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

So, this is a ton of information to absorb all at once, and we’ll be posting more details as the event approaches. Spread the word and help us ring in our 1st Anniversary and the end of Philly Beer Week 2013 in style!
