Craft Beer Spotlight: Brickwall Tavern, Asbury Park NJ

Four score and seven pours ago, our founders brought forth on this city a new tavern conceived in happiness and dedicated to the proposition that all revelry is not created equal. Brickwall. No gimmicks. No pretenses. Just good food and drink.

Opened in the summer of 2006, Brickwall Tavern & Dining Room is an original in its own right. As the first restaurant that the Smith group ever created, Brickwall was the catalyst for bringing people back into Asbury Park after decades of decline and became the anchor for downtown, paving the way for the rest of Cookman Avenue to follow. A pioneer in both comfort food and craft beer, Brickwall played an integral role in the success stories of some of the most beloved craft breweries today — it’s where Kane got its start, and Asbury Park Brewery, too. Neshaminy Creek has found it to be a friendly harbor ever since its beers first crossed into The Garden State.

And while the summer crowds come from far and wide to experience the Asbury Park OG, they remain a destination for a dedicated local family. After all, they wouldn’t have made it this far without the early support of our Asbury faithful. That’s why Brickwall committed to our doors always being open — come blizzard or hurricane, the lights are on and the beers are flowing. So when the storm’s coming, you know where you’re going to keep warm. And keep company.
In an effort to further embrace the region’s burgeoning craft scene, all 3 Brickwall locations (Asbury Park, NJ – Burlington, NJ – Philadelphia, NJ) are revamping their beer programs starting this month! Neshaminy Creek’s Highwater Hefeweizen will join the ranks of Brickwall’s Resident Crafts; 5 steady draught lines of reliable local favorites. This award-winning authentic Bavarian wheat beer will always be on tap and featured during each location’s Happy Hour for $4 a pint!
