Sabrina’s: THE Best of The Brunch
Not only do Sabrina’s and NCBC have a history together (various employees used to work for them, we’ve done events together before, etc.), but the popular Philadelphia-born spot has quite the history of its own!
For those not familiar with Sabrina’s, we put together a little list of their recent accomplishments, as well as a bit of their backstory, below.
Owners Robert and Raquel DeAbreu opened the first Philadelphia Sabrina’s (named after their recently born daughter) location on Christian Street in 2001. The goal? To have a restaurant that would be the opposite of a big, impersonal chain restaurant. To provide you with all of the comfort food classics you love, but not typical “diner” style. To give you a world-class brunch experience, with all fresh ingredients, but at a price that doesn’t break the bank. A restaurant that treats you like a friend more than a dollar sign.
To say they succeeded in all of the above goals and more is an understatement.
Sabrina’s took off, even in their opening months, which can be shaky for some restaurants. The initial young, hip client base started bringing in their parents, and then their families and friends, and it evolved to become the place, especially for brunch items, that everybody could enjoy.
In 2007, Sabrina’s Cafe and Spencer’s, Too, their second restaurant located on Callowhill Street, opened up with an expanded menu. The goal was to keep many of the original Sabrina’s favorites but to give a few more options that were more appropriate for the evening crowd. Meals consisting of pasta, fish, and fine choice meats rival some of the top eateries in the city, and again, at a price that will make you smile as wide as when you take your first bite.
Sabrina’s continues to grow and impress new friends, not patrons, every day, and now also has locations in University City, Wynnewood PA, and Collingswood NJ.
