Craft Beer Spotlight: Pour on Center
If you’ve ever traveled to or from Pittsburgh and State College on Route 22, you pass through the small town of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. It sits on top of the Allegheny Plateau as the halfway point of your journey. What you may not realize is that just a 1/4 mile off of the highway sits THE destination gastropub in the Alleghenies: Pour On Center.
Opened in October of 2013 by Father and Son Nick and Chris Persio, Pour On Center has become the craft beer and food destination of both Cambria County locals, and travelers alike. In the summer of 2015, the Persio’s recruited Eric McClintick to be their bar manager. Eric comes with 7 years of acquired craft beer knowledge from Johnstown and Ebensburg. Collectively, the three create some of the best beer and food menus that you will find in Pennsylvania.
Chris has always had Gastrology and cuisine food made from scratch in mind when crafting the menu for Pour. Rarely is it static, and the Sunday brunches are absolutely legendary. Frequently the restaurant will have beer-themed brunches held regularly for their devout patrons to enjoy. Beer brunches aren’t the only craft beer events at Pour, however. Between creatively themed tap takeovers, patio events such as national Fat Bike Day, National Record Store Day, and the upcoming (Pour)ktoberfest, you would be hard pressed to find an establishment that fosters a more fun and open-minded environment within the craft beer community.
Pour on Center has been absolutely key in Neshaminy Creek’s growth as a brewery in the Central PA area and beyond. Some of the brewery’s biggest fans cut their teeth on NCBC beers while sitting in the pub. NCBC is frequently a staple seen among their 16 taps. Often times, NCBC workers can even bbe found sitting at the bar talking shop with Chris and Eric.
The next time you are looking to make a trip for fantastic food and beer, or a stop on your journey across the Alleghenies, stop at Pour on Center. Bring your beloved dog (they are dog-friendly!), and enjoy a beer or libation on the patio as the foliage turns this coming fall!
