Craft Beer Spotlight: Country Garden 6-Pack

A staple of Ebensburg, PA since 1974, Country Garden has been supplying beer to residents of greater Cambria County for the last 43 years. It hasn’t always been a prime destination for craft beer, however.

Owner Justin Yahner purchased the business from within the family in July of 2008. Justin’s end goal was simply to have a place to get a solid Philly style cheese steak, and a spot to pick up craft and domestics.

In the beginning, it wasn’t easy… Ebensburg is located roughly halfway between State College and Pittsburgh. At the time, it was a virtual black hole for craft and import distribution. No one was pushing craft beer in the area at the time. After basically begging various distributors from Central PA and Pittsburgh to start delivering to the region, things started to slowly turn around.

Today Country Garden has the best takeout selection of craft beer in Cambria County. Justin has been a staunch supporter of Neshaminy Creek since we were first available in the area starting in April of 2014. Several Neshaminy Creek beers can regularly be found in the coolers or as one of the featured beers on the taps Justin has for in house consumption, or for growler fills.

Justin’s support for craft beer doesn’t stop just with his business. He regularly works within the community to expose people to new beers in whatever means necessary. One example of that is the Shoes & Brews 5K run that he does in conjunction with local Ebensburg based running store Up-N-Running. Neshaminy Creek is sponsoring said run this coming Thursday, July 20th!

Whether you live in the area or are traveling on Rt. 22, make it a point to visit Justin and crew at the shop! There’s a good chance that you’ll be able to twist his arm, and he will sit down and enjoy a pint with you.
