Craft Beer Spotlight: Malt and Mold
Located on a lonely stretch in the back-ass end of the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Malt and Mold was founded five years ago as a neighborhood beer and cheese shop devoted to American craft beer, farmstead cheese, and artisanal sundry items. Over two years later we opened our second location in Gramercy.
Malt and Mold-LES has eight taps for growler fills to go (and someday soon for in-house pints as well!), a wall of hard to find (and plenty of core brand) bottles and cans, and, as they say, a well curated selection of American and imported cheese selected to pair with your favorite beer (or, y’know, wine, if you’re so inclined…we don’t judge). We have weekly tastings on Thursday evenings, 5-8 pm, and Saturday afternoons, 3-6 pm.
Malt and Mold-Gramercy: Oh, yes, we learned our lesson at the little Lower East Side shop and we opened Gramercy with a full Tavern license. But, ho, ho, we didn’t put a bar or any seats in there for your comfort. No sir. We’re still a little neighborhood beer and cheese shop at heart and in spirit. So, yes, you can have a pint (or three) of beer there. You can have your glass of wine (no, really, we won’t judge…). And we have our weekly tastings there too – Friday evenings, 5-8 pm. Additionally, on Sundays 3-6 pm we have impromptu, customer driven bottle shares. You’re welcome to bring a bottle and join us.
