Craft Beer Spotlight: Lorraine
Lorraine is in Francisville: a neighborhood sandwiched between posh Fairmount and burgeoning “Brewerytown”. Opening in April 2015 with brothers and local born Chris and Jimmy Lardani at the helm, Lorraine wanted to do something that seems lost in today’s condo-driven Philadelphia landscape: an actual bar serving canned beer and shots with a selection of various pickles, popcorn, and rotating snacks.
Lorraine has eschewed the craft cocktail trend (they do make a mean Manhattan) for craft cans from the region and mostly locally distilled liquor. Although they are avid NHL fans (don’t dare speak badly of Gretzky), you are more likely to see Star Trek and Pro wrestling on the television than sports. The nerd vibe is expressed by the massive Cthulhu mural in the large outside area, a retro video game cabinet, and board games available for anyone to play. You are also fine to BYO food to the bar. They always carry Neshaminy Creek products including some limited release items and the Croydon Cream Ale is always $3.
